Who Are the Favourites to Win Tonight?

Predicting the winners is never an exact science, especially this year, which has seen an unpredictable awards season.
BBC Culture reporter Steven McIntosh reviewed the list of nominees to highlight who might take home the golden statuette tonight. Here are the key contenders to watch:
Best Picture
The political thriller One Battle After Another is a strong frontrunner, but the vampire horror Sinners remains a popular contender. One Battle After Another has already won major awards leading up to the Oscars, while Sinners holds the record for the most Oscar nominations this year with 16.
Best Actor
Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme) showed early momentum, and Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent) has earned some wins, but Michael B. Jordan, who recently won at the Actor Awards, is currently the frontrunner.
Best Actress
This category appears the most clear-cut, with Jessie Buckley from Hamnet widely expected to win.
Best Supporting Actor
Sean Penn from One Battle After Another is the favorite, having won several significant awards recently. However, he faces strong competition from Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein) and Stellan Skarsgård (Sentimental Value).
Best Supporting Actress
This category is more difficult to predict. Amy Madigan, star of Weapons, is the main favorite, but Teyana Taylor (One Battle After Another) is the only nominee recognized at every major ceremony and won at the Golden Globes. British actress Wunmi Mosaku (Sinners) should not be discounted either; she won at the Baftas, while Madigan took home awards at the Critics Choice and Actor Awards.
It won’t be long until the winners are revealed...
