The Philadelphia Eagles have secured their reliable 6-foot-1 tight end for at least one more season.
On Sunday, the Eagles re-signed Dallas Goedert to a one-year deal to return to Philadelphia.
“Sources: Tight end Dallas Goedert reached agreement today on a one-year deal to return to the Eagles for his ninth season in Philadelphia,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on X/Twitter.
Goedert’s signing came with a straightforward update on a potential A.J. Brown trade, especially after NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo recently noted that the futures of Goedert and Brown are ‘interconnected.’
“Even though the Eagles now are bringing back tight end Dallas Goedert, there are no new developments regarding the status of wide receiver A.J. Brown,” Schefter added.
Fans should not expect a trade to happen soon, as The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported Friday evening that the Eagles are not trading Brown at this time. However, Philadelphia could revisit a potential trade involving their star wide receiver in the future.
Although uncertainty remains about Brown’s long-term future in Philadelphia following a relatively down year and concerns about his role with the team, the Eagles can be relieved that Goedert will remain part of the roster next season.
The contact-embracing tight end finished his eighth NFL season with 60 receptions for 591 yards and a career-best 11 touchdowns. When Jalen Hurts’ initial reads were unavailable last season, Goedert was a reliable check-down target and security blanket. According to Schefter’s report, that role will continue in the 2026-27 season.
